  MORTGAGE MARKET

This website is designed to guide you through the mortgage maze, to enable you to unravel the UK mortgage market. We provide the Mortgage Map. You as a consumer, if you decide to source a mortgage to fund a house purchase or re-mortgage have two main options.

1) Approach a lender directly by going into a branch, phoning a call centre or using the Internet. In this instance it will be your responsibility to research which lender will be most competitive. Also you have to be aware that the cheapest mortgage is not always the best. Also the lender will promote their products in a positive way, and will highlight the advantages to you.

2) Alternatively you can contact a financial adviser or mortgage broker who can both search and deal with the lender on your behalf. This has some advantages. Firstly they are dealing with mortgages day in day out, so there knowledge and expertise will prove invaluable. They will be able to help you choose the best lender for your individual circumstances.

A good broker will highlight the advantages and disadvantages of each lender. A large mortgage broker will have considerable influence with the lenders who will be keen to secure business introduced by them, often giving them access to exclusive deals. If the broker contacts the lender asking for an update on your cases progress, they will be very keen to do what they can to keep you and especially the broker happy. Indeed most lenders have special teams set up to deal exclusively with business submitted the large broker firms.
